Life Stress and Major Satisfaction according to Satir¡¯s Communication Styles among Nursing Students

Abstract
Background: The purpose of this study is to compare the life stress and major satisfaction according to satir`s communication styles among nursing students.

Methods: Descriptive cross sectional study design was used. Data were collected from 239 nursing students using self administered surveys at a university located in a D metropolitan city in Chungcheong area. Data were managed using SPSS 20.0.

Results: The life stress and major satisfaction differed by Satir`s communication styles. The life stress were lower among the nursing students who functional communication than dysfunctional communication. Also, the major satisfaction were higher among the nurse students who functional communication style than dysfunctional communication style.
Conclusions: It was confirmed that nursing students` life stress can be decreased and major satisfaction can be improved by increasing communication ability and modifying communication style.
